LinkedIn, the world's largest networking website for business professionals, needed a website to promote their LinkedIn European Business Awards.

Co-hosted with Cisco Webex, the leading provider of web conferencing and collaboration software, the awards are designed to showcase the achievements of LinkedIn members in a number of business categories. 

LinkedIn wanted the awards process and events to be delivered entirely online and they commissioned us to build, host and support the website to do it.

The site uses the LinkedIn Application Programming Interface (API) to connect with the main LinkedIn platform, allowing LinkedIn members to easily find, nominate and vote for other members. Nominations and voting activity are also published automatically via Twitter.

In 2010, the first year of the Awards, over 2,200 tweets were sent out in this way and were instrumental to the awards marketing campaign and site traffic. In the six months from the site going live to the awards ceremony, the new site attracted nearly 90,000 unique visitors and over 130,000 visits lasting an average of 3 minutes each.

The site contains videos of the judges and other European business luminaries, talking about their judging criteria. The final awards ceremony was conducted live online, and a recording of it was posted to the website.
