App Development

Windows Phone 7

As competition between smart phone operating systems increases and Apple starts to lose market share in the apps market, many businesses are now developing apps on the Windows Phone 7 platform.

About Windows Phone 7 (WP7)

Microsoft enhanced its smartphone profile in 2010 with the launch of the Windows Phone 7 platform. WP7 then got a substantial boost in February 2011 when Nokia announced that they would be using the technology in their phones.

Like its competitors, the Windows Phone platform has been built to encourage the development of apps which can act as brand reinforcers and connect users with a multitude of web-based services.

Our Windows Phone Development Work

Our early involvement with WP7 means we're now one of the most experienced developers in the UK for Windows Phone 7, with strong links to the Microsoft team behind the mobile technology. This derives from our historic involvement with Silverlight development, one of the Microsoft technologies behind Windows Phone. Indeed, when Microsoft's MSN wanted to showcase the new Windows Phone platform, they asked us to build an app which could display celebrity news, images and video content from MSN's UK website.

The resulting 'Celebrity Wall' App was carefully designed so that new versions of it could be easily created for other MSN content and app markets. MSN has gone on to leverage the original with a Canadian celeb app as well as apps with news and cars content.

"Building an app for a phone that doesn't yet exist and that needs to be ready for launch day is a challenge. Governor rose to that challenge; not only were we ready for the UK launch of Windows Phone 7, the subsequent consumer feedback has been excellent with the app maintaining a four star or above average rating so far. To my mind that is the best testimony for the quality of Governor's contribution to the project".

Windows Phone Apps

Since the release of Windows Phone, Windows Phone app development and Windows Phone apps have been all the rage. Like Android and iPhone apps, Windows Phone Apps have a variety of purposes. Many of the apps are games, but people often check their Facebook, catch up on some reading, watch videos, listen to music, get directions, or even check their blood alcohol content straight from their Windows Phone.

Windows Phone 7 Development

Since its inception Windows 7 Development hasn't really been contained to PC and laptop development. There is a whole world of development for Windows 7 on multiple devices. In fact, many of the recent and more interesting progressions are happening in the area of Windows Phone app development as well as in development for Windows Phone 7 and WP7.5 Mango.

WP7 Creative Agency

Being a Windows Phone 7 Creative Agency has its perks. As noted before, a Windows 7 Phone apps developer compliments the work many do on iPhone or Android developer. And it just doesn't make sense for an Xbox Live developer not to be a Windows Phone Partner. Honestly, given the fact that Windows has such a strong market hold in all things computing, it just doesn't make sense for phone app developers in general to avoid being a Windows 7 phone company. And just because someone is a developer for Windows Phone doesn't mean they can't develop for Android or iPhone - infact quite the opposite in our case. If you need Windows phone app development?
