Jockey Club Racecourses

Jockey Club Racecourses (JCR) own some of Europe's most popular racecourses (including Cheltenham, Aintree, Epsom and Sandown) and stages well know events such as The Cheltenham Festival and The Grand National. Governor Technology have been working for JCR for many years.
    

Invoice Submission Tool

Having implemented a Microsoft Dynamics GP solution for general accounting and business management, JCR were left needing a way by which staff across all their locations could raise sales invoice requests in a simple way that avoided duplication.

We built a bespoke application on the back of an existing staging database. This application enabled approved staff to enter invoice details once only into a simple web interface. The invoice was then imported automatically into the accounting system, saving hundreds of hours of manual processing each month.


Intranet Collaboration Solution

JCR wanted to improve internal communication across the group and foster new opportunities for collaboration amongst employees. After an initial trial of a discussion forum and blog amongst senior management, we helped JCR roll out the tool to all employees in their offices and 14 race courses across the UK. The solution used Open Source social networking platform Elgg, which we branded and customised to suit JCR's requirements.


CMS Websites and Ticketing System

Governor Technology provided the technical foundation for JCR's first online presence, with responsibility for the build, launch and maintenance of 14 websites, each with extra functionality for gathering user registrations and running online questionnaires and competitions.

Each website has its own content management system (CMS), enabling non-technical staff at each racecourse to update easily their site with news, event details and even to build new pages and navigation. The sites are also enabled to receive feeds of fixtures and race results from courses and external partners.

Governor Technology also built a bespoke ticketing and merchandising application so that site users can purchase everything they need online. This was securely integrated with both JCR's offline ticket management database and all the major payment gateways. The ticketing system has since completed transactions worth millions of pounds - with the vast majority of all ticket sales now online.

Since launch, Governor Technology has been responsible for technical maintenance and hosting for all these sites, which can experience peak loads of several million hits per day.
