SWAG Jewellers
SWAG is a successful jewellery business with a number of outlets in suburban shopping centres around the South East of England, and a flagship store at Bluewater, Europe’s largest shopping centre.
When they came to Governor Technology they already had a website selling a range of stock, but it was underperforming and they were looking to re-vamp and re-launch it. There were also key security holes that created a serious risk that malicious hackers could gain access to customer information.
The decision was therefore taken to re-build the site from scratch. A completely new interface and navigation structure was designed with page templates built in standards compliant XHTML using cascading stylesheets for maximum flexibility and enabling future design changes.
The site provides customers with full search and product comparison, before placing products in a shopping basket. All transaction handling uses SSL and one of the highest levels of encryption certificates currently available, ensuring maximum transaction security. Credit card transactions themselves use the Protx payment gateway with which the site is fully integrated for a seamless customer experience.
An intuitive administration interface enables SWAG to easily update the product catalogue as well as view live statistics on sales orders and site visitors.
From start to finish the project took just six weeks. The tight deadline was required in order to have the site operational in time for the Christmas 2007 rush. The effort was very much worth it. With a bumper Christmas and sales continuing solidly into the new year – SWAG has seen increased sales that paid for the development cost within three months.
The site is hosted on dedicated servers managed by Governor Technology, which gives maximum flexibility and responsiveness in terms of our ability to continue to provide support and upgrades.
