Sharedserviceslink.com

www.sharedserviceslink.com is a new networking community for finance professionals interested in shared services, off shoring, and outsourcing.

The company was started in September 2007 with an initial revenue stream coming from running conferences and other events for the industry.

Governor Technology was asked to replace an existing static HTML website with one that would help expand their business by creating a professional network to bring together buyers and suppliers and create opportunities for new revenue streams via membership schemes and targeted advertising.

One of the key issues the project faced was that there were lots of ideas for dynamic and interactive functionality, yet not enough time or budget to develop them all within a timeframe needed to support a crucial conference event.

It was decided that the best approach was to stage the development of the new site starting with key functionality to enable some basic customer interactions to take place, whilst keeping in mind the requirements for future development.

We did a complete redesign of the interface and navigation of their existing website and built a bespoke Content Management System to enable site administrators to manage the membership services and easily update the site with new events.

The site was built using .NET and SQL Server 2005 and is hosted on Governor Technology servers.  The development work involved using agile project management processes alongside a new technique to semi-automate the process of developing the CMS functionality from the database schema.

As a result of this we were able to significantly reduce the time and cost of development, passing these savings directly on to the client.  The site was further developed throughout 2008 with greater breadth of services for members and more flexible CMS functionality.
