LinkedIn European Business Awards
LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com) is the world's largest networking website for business professionals. Over 48 million members from 200 countries use the LinkedIn to connect with peers, exchange ideas and expertise and generally expand their business and professional networks.
As part of its on-going promotional activities, in 2009 LinkedIn Europe, in partnership with Cisco Webex (www.webex.co.uk), the leading provider of web conferencing and collaboration software, created a brand new European Business Awards programme. These awards are designed to showcase the achievements of LinkedIn member in a number of business categories.
Governor Technology was commissioned to build, host and provide ongoing support for the awards website (www.linkedinbusinessawards.com).
The site uses the LinkedIn Application Programming Interface (API) to connect with the LinkedIn database so visitors can find, nominate and vote for LinkedIn members. Nominations and voting activity are also published automatically via Twitter.
Following on from the successful launch of the site, we have now begun development of a second one, this time encouraging UK University students and graduates to join LinkedIn, and with a competition to win an internship with a major UK employer during the summer of 2010.
