Moreton Smith International
We developed an intranet, website and client extranet for Moreton Smith International that runs their business operations and allows customers transparent access to their account information on-line.
Moreton Smith International is a corporate credit control agency. Over the past five years we have worked with them to develop and support an intranet and client extranet system that handles all of their day to day business activities, and gives clients transparent access to collection accounts over the web.
The system features a sophisticated browser-based user interface that runs on all of MSI's desktops internally and allows collectors to maintain client accounts, view their account position, keep comprehensive notes on file, maintain a collection diary and generate collection letters automatically.
Clients are able to log onto the website securely to view their account position, post notes to collectors and upload new invoices. Numerous reporting tools provide clients with intuitive, real-time management information on their accounts.
The system is based on SQL Server 2000, and uses replication to maintain synchronised copies of the database on the web server, intranet server and laptops for off-line use. The Intranet, Client Extranet and document processing systems were developed in .NET using an n-tier architecture with an ASP.NET presentation layer. Automated documents are generated and faxed electronically by the system using Microsoft Office and ZetaFax server.
The system has grown rapidly to hold information on £150 million worth of transactions including electronic copies of paper documents and correspondence. The system also integrates with the accounting systems of a number of MSI’s major clients, which include Fuji Film, Emap, Bupa, The Financial Times, Reed and Sun Microsystems.
Recent growth in MSI’s business has necessitated automatic capture of invoices on a large scale. We successfully devised, built and support a scanning solution featuring OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and integrated this with their core database systems.
